Zamararadi productions, the creators of East Africa's first telenovela, KONA are at it again with their brand new television drama series "Sunrise". Season one will premier on Zuku Entertainment, channel 100 on Wednesday, 5th August at 20:30.
The storyline, Soni comes back home to Sunrise to find things very different, crime rocks the settlement, people have moved on and life isn’t what she left back then. She gets robbed just as she enters Sunrise and all her bags disappear. However, all are happy to see her and assume she has graduated from campus. She becomes very famous among the people and even gets the eye of Chuma a local guy who works for the settlement’s mob head, Emmanuel. Chuma helps her find her bag later and they grow close, meanwhile the village is preparing to have a big party to welcome her. Emmanuel, the person who actually finds the bags, goes through them and finds Soni’s journal which contains her very closely kept secret. Soni never made her cut off point grades for to get scholarship to second year so she dropped from campus and has been hustling in the USA finally the authorities found her and deported her. Against this façade of success, Soni has to play it as if life in USA was as good as all the people of Sunrise assume it must have been. Like in any society, there those who want more out of Sunrise, some want to rule it, others just want to survive and there are those who are running away from ghosts of their past. All these people somehow always involve Soni in their lives making her life back home tougher and tougher by the day. Soni ends up being the super hero because she has come from the USA. She is forced to keep up an act to survive. In time she ends trapped just like many others in ........SUNRISE.
